HOW RATINGS ARE CALCULATED

The Central Carolinas Super League uses the USATT League Rating System. You can view all
league match results and individual ratings at the USATT Ratings Page.

Rating points are “exchanged” between competing players based on the following chart:

Point Spread Between Players

UNRATED PLAYERS

New members can establish a rating for league play by playing a minimum of 5 matches. Generally, an unrated player will receive a provisional rating 250 points higher than the highest rated player he defeats. If a player has no wins, then his provisional rating will be 250 points higher than the rating of his lowest rated opponent.

If an unrated player wins ALL of his assigned matches, then the provisional rating will be adjusted upward an additional 10 points x the Division Level played. So for example, if an unrated player wins all of his matches in the 5th Division and his highest rated opponent was rated 1150 his total provisional rating would be: 1150 + 250 + (5 * 10) = 1450.

However, these calculations are just a general guideline to insure fairness to existing members who have worked very hard to earn their rating points. In all cases the League Administrator may adjust the provisional rating up or down using whatever additional information is available including observing the performance of the player in practice matches.
